The Collection FAQ's
Q: Why Clowns?
A: Profundity is a viewers expectation about art, the showing forth of the what-ness
of a thing... a human condition, a natural condition, a political condition ad nauseum.
Should a person enjoy the illumination of a truth? I think not. Just as all the decisions
of our Supreme Court, the court of who lives and who dies, are tiny, so the illumination
of some trivially is inconsequential. A cogent person knows what is true, possibly the
truth.
My thinking is that these clowns are beautiful. Miscreants, morons, dickheads exposed
their foibles sculpted and partied they look like a thing you won't invite home. They can
amuse you with juggling, but they can decapitate you. What do you do with people like
this? Sleep with one eye open?
Q: So they're undesirables. What?
A: Nothing. They are innocuous... commonplace creeps. I imagine them as having no
pretensions. They don't want to go to an expensive spa. They're probably not familiar
with costly restaurants. Like the rest of us, they're horny... which is totally repugnant
to a decent person, etc. How could that be permitted? Where do you think the little
clowns came from? But civility is their watchword.
Q: Might they be happy someday?
A: They are generally. Unlike the hopeful they have no hope, they know that hope is the
refuge of the mediocre. They've long abandoned hope. And just as hope is the origin
of happiness, amongst the hopeful, those who have abandoned hope are set free in a
way that causes happiness. They're very devil-may-care.
Q: And what about snacks?
A: Rabbit pellets.
